Abi Ahmed Plans Possibly Brutal and Long Game

True. Look at Italian Eritrea vs. English Somaliland. The Italians left a great footprint in terms of development, which the country relies on until today. While in the british colony (or protectorate as some like to call it to feel better about themselves, kkk), they hardly contributed anything development-wise. Or anything worthwhile, to my knowledge.

SL was a garrison for aden meat supply like we all are today for the gulf lol, it was indirect rule cuz they lacked unified sultan so the queen was their monarch united. But aden was far more developed then those mountain apes in the north, no wonder they didn't pursue a union initially untill the 90s and now collapsed again. The north was an ottoman sphere and ottomans simply didn't invest to keep up with the british aden leading to huge economic-human/political capital difference.

The plan is to turn Ethiopia into a state that is united under one unified culture and people. He has been trained by the elite who see that region in the horn as a crucial part of the new “Silk Road”. To them (world elite) Somalia and Ethiopia must join as one nation because one has the access to the coast while the other has the population and market to profit from.
Somalia joining Ethiopia would be a disaster for Ethiopia, it'd be like letting a wolf cub into your house, harmless today but eventually....

This in my opinion only indicate that the Amhara will have a healthy population growth and if they have solid economic plan and good urbanisation rate they will be the wealthiest region in the country. High fertility is disaster without rapid economic development. Every generation just gets poorer.

What is the school enrollment rate in Amhara region, also wouldn't they by default enjoy better opportunities as their mother tongue is the lingua franca of the country?

You'd think so, but that's actually not the case. Somehow, Amharas have the lowest fertility while being the least urbanized and are the 3rd poorest region. The TPLF really did a number on them

@GemState what about life expectancy, those with high fertility die younger leaving no trace of knowledge accumulation and the regions that do accumulate by living longer will always control these young and unexperienced herd continously entering the ranks.

Somalis are third from last. The range is 55-65, with addis being the highest, afar being the lowest. Somalis are hovering around 57 mark. Notice 60 is when 'wisdom' generation begins and leadership, and high knowledge transfer to the young, somalis dont make it recycling back down like new herds coming up the ranks, but never accumulating and therefore being led constantly. Yes their fertility is high but its not quality fertility, its a perpertual death cycle due to their life expectancy, my prediction is they will just be herded around as labor.

@GemState habashi plan is to ensure low investment in any health area that extends life, they want u to repopulate high but a low quality 'high' that can serve as labor pool and discarded before the wisdom 'era' is ever reached so they can never reach a stage where wisdom is grown from life experience and transferred to their youth. They will find out whats causing them not to reach senior years and make sure those illness are never invested.

:damn:

No way the naked SNNP has higher HDI than Somali region, Amhara and Oromia. I think your source is flawed.

But if true, it seems the Amhara suffer from massive brain drain, I think the rural Amhara instead of flocking to their own towns and cities they find better opportunities throughout the country. There are tens of thousands of Amhara in every region after all, even in Jigjiga they make a sizeable community, saw unholy amount of them chanting on the streets.

The TPLF used them as civil servants, while neglecting their region. Xaasidsanaa. Well they are enjoying Addis though...

We need to study Meles' policies and his biography. These numbers can't be natural.

I find these types of stats very odd, when they are complying all regional states and charter cities into the same category.

The three first on the list: Addis, Dir Dhaba and Harar are practically city-states. Therefore do they end up on top of all stats, compared to the regions with larger population.

It would be better to compare them with the cities of the country instead.

Several of the largest cities are located next to each other as well. With their economies and everything else interconnected. In terms of HDI, it would then be:

1. Addis-Nazareth
2. Dir Dhaba-Harar-Jigjiga

Why do we have to use the English language or Anglophone country as a metric, as to who we should follow suit? Most western countries don't even have English as an official language. Yeah, they may speak it but that's as far as the limit of the language goes.

You're overestimating the value of the English language and contributing to wrong aspects of those countries.
Italy is banning english in their country

Were they even speaking English over there in the first place? :heh:

I heard that the gov't will issue fines upwards of 100K, if English is used in official communication and heavily restrict it in the public sphere. These people will dwindle back to irrelevancy soon :mjpls:

The benefits of english at schooling level is immense.

1. Access to knowledge which is largely in english without language barrier
2. Present well to investors as it's the business language of the world
3. Tap into our large diaspora like hodan nalayeh did using english to re-connect them so they don't dwindle away in the west with their human capital and our nation dwindles to local dynamics with no diaspora influence post Gen Z.
4. Where-ever english is spoken in colonial areas are leading their regions. India-Malaysia-Singapore. South Africa-Nigeria-Ghana-Kenya. Even wise Paul kagame got rid of belgium and added english as official. Look at the growth/change in their nation.

It's us Darods who were very anti British and I believe UK knows this and always sides with SL it's colonial legacy, we need to forgive/forget with Britain and telling them we were worried about the missionizing they were doing across sub sahara africa and their legacy in Berbera orphanages and it was a very 'imperialist' culture which grew later into fascism for europe and it's disaster is well known. We were relatively new to the world dynamics back then and had a very minimal human capital as evident by independence founders being literally 20-25 year olds.

We must commend them on their colonial successes in comparison to Italy-France on the continent, we shouldn't mix words there as their is a huge 'national' difference.

I don't think we hold grudges against Britians, if you speak about Daroods. Otherwise, we would've kept Italians just to spite them. Especially post-independence.

It's probably true that making sure that introducing and learning English earlier on would have its share of benefits today. But I'm not sure to what magnitude?

Rather than focusing solely on English (which we can include and possible increase in our curriculum), we should focus primarily on making it accessible to everyone. With an astonishing low literacy rate in Somalia relative to neighboring countries and low enrollment rate as well, it doesn't make it better.

Making sure that all students finish school will bring more improvement, than learning the English language. Even though they two should be combined.

After Liyu is integrated with the police, the next step is to divide the regional states into geographical ones. Oromia will be split into 5, and Somali state will be split into 3. Afar, Tigray, and the others will all be split. This is what Abiye wants to happen by the end of the year

Can play them off against each other whenever he needs to

It was bound to happen, and I saw this coming when Abiy ascended to power and revealed his vision :francis:

Even though PP is very unpopular in our region, I wished that the former 'Somali Democratic Party' along with the other parties abstained from merging with the prosperity party. Which in turn would've be easier to be in opposition, whenever an unpopular measure like this would be forced through.

This will affect mainly us. Afars are Ethiopianist and they have a small population for a large region. Oromos are mostly regionalist, where you find a vast variety of culture, dialect, religion and even political views depending on the region in question, and therefore easier to adapt. Such as the 2 Hararghe regions, the 2 Bale regions, the 4 Shewa regions etc.
