Abdullahi Yusuf vs Caydiid

The debates between Abdullahi Yusuf and his entourage and Caydiid and his side in Xamar 1994. The Darods present (Ogaden and Mx were absent) wanted federalism based on 18 regions or new federal states and were not willing to return to central rule. Irir led by Caydiid (HG) and Abdirahman Tuur (Iiddoor) wanted a North South central model with Hawiye getting President and Iiddoor getting PM. Caydiid justified this by saying Irir won the civil war and they were afraid of revenge if Darod were to get power. The Iiddoor were using the secession card as a bargaining chip to break the Darod-Hawiye duopoly and Caydiid was welcoming of them to sideline Darod

30 years later, the same issues remain. Hawiye still want centralism because they fear Daarood domination otherwise, and Daarood don't want centralism because they have been traumatised by the Iriri chimp out (the '91 Darod Genocide aka Nakba). The Iiddoor continue to use the secession card as a bargaining chip to break into the top seats of national power.

This is why HSM's Iriri Constitution is so dangerous. He wants to enforce by fiat what the Daarood delegation rejected in 1994 when they were arguably in a much weaker position than today. This is also why the reason Hawiye has been opposed to any form of federalism and decentralisation till today.

The only solution is balkanisation but Hawiye don't want that too

How come the idiot prime minister al marxuum doesn’t try to stop or protest?

Marehans appear fine with Centralism, and if I am not mistaken, are comfortable being back in Mogadishu. Furthermore, Farmaajo was also trying to push Centralism.

It's us Puntites, who are staunchly anti-Centralism and it's high-time we broke free from Daarood politics, because it's clear we don't share the same values and that's fine.

Darod never fought Irir united stop the cantrabaqash. Irir tho did fight marehan and dhulbahante under SNA thru northern and southern front. Ogaden in Somalia sided with USC.

Majerten were inactive and stopped their rebel group in 1986 after Abdillahi Yusuf was arrested by menguistu because Abdillahi Yusuf refused Menguistu to Annex balanbale, galdogob, plus he wasn't confident why Ethiopia refused to host rebel groups to discuss a post siyad barre Somalia so a vacuum doesn't occur.

A simple rebel led military transition period was needed to allow the civilian political elite and Isimo to craft a new state structure and it's subsequent law based mechanism and popular election format or at least a subsequent transition civilian govt that can lead us towards the final state goals.

But Ethiopia didn't see eye to eye with Abdillahi Yusuf and arrested him and SSDF ended its rebel group after seeing all those challenges and surrendered to siyad in return for completing the bosaso to garowe highway and bosaso port. We told siyad we will remain inactive in return for those projects.

But the silly hoto started massacring our civilians in galkacyo, Mogadishu, kismaayo and we didn't even have a rebel group as our goal was political change not tribal genocide. We then waited till 1997 when they declared sal balaar govt and that was the final nail in the coffin and PL was born.

I argue we need another leader with backbone like Abdillahi Yusuf cause since 2009 when he resigned, the only two things achieved were the drafting of the constitution and ending the transition.

Can you name a single thing that has been achieved beyond that? Debt relief is all talk and not done but constantly each year we r told it's coming tommorow cantrabaqash. If darod went to war united I can guarantee U hawiye and Isaaq wouldn't exist in Somali territory and would join the warday in Kenya lol

Move the capital to another city and Hawiye will just be a .5 tribe. I can’t think of 2-3 hawiye dominated cities that are the same size as Bosaso Garowe, Galkacyo, Kismaayo, Qardho, Lascaanod.

Balkanisation is pretty much out of the window since the IC would never let that happen so the second best option is confederalism

No one wants centralism. Certainly not after the hawiya genocide took place 88-90 when the so called Somalia government tried to β€œclear” entire communities from the central highway And southern mudug. Never forget.

And we’re waiting for banaadir state and ur taking about centralism kkkkk.

And lol at balkanization.
Darod hate other darod the must.
Even isaaqs. HA & co have weird obsession with GX. They’re only united because they live in two cities and 5 towns and are surrounded by β€œenemies.”
U can’t run a nation being extremely tribal/clannish. At least not for long.

Unless something extremely major happens, get ready for a HAG + some RX ( maybe few OG with deep pockets if they switch from Nairobi) deep state that’s been developing in πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡΄ as we speak. Writing comments online or being isolationist won’t change much. In fact, they latter will harm u long term.

Simply better.
It's been 32 years, and no one is scared of you. Keep crying about the big bad hawiye who oppressed you. I suggest you follow Isaaq out the door; you copy their every move anyway.

Staying in the same place for 30 years is depressing. It suggests that we lack the mental capacity to govern ourselves and need foreigners to lead us. We could choose our next leader from Turkey, an Arab country, or Nigeria, etc., as long as they are foreigners.

May Allah curse all of those shaytans and punish them. If they had compromised Somalia could have been like Rwanda today. 40 year old men sit around unemployed and depressed because of those men.

My father generation handed us a terrible legacy and the Warlord generation like Asad diyano and Dahir alasow are basically not turning it around and continuing their aideed failed legacy. What's even sad the 20 year old generation all bloody terrorists and report to post 2000 kids.

The most ultimate power one has during a negotiation, is the ability to walk away and never look back. the issue is no one wants to compromise for the sake of the country

the situation in somalia is just a bunch of madax adeg old heads who have a winner takes all strategy and are willing to keep the status quo till yowm al qiyammah until they get what the want.

Spot on bruv, winner takes all or zero sum politics is the only thing they agree too and will keep us in the status quo till yowmul qiyaama lol. Win win or game theory developed by John Nash is foreign to them, U know win win means U also share losses distributed equally.
