Ina Sharmarke AUN, was an honourable and skilled leader that was cruelly taken too soon. However, lets not rewrite history. The government he and Ina Cigaal led was in deep trouble due to widespread corruption allegations and significant complaints that they were getting fat on the job whilst doing nothing for the country.

This is not to besmirch his or Ina Cigaal's legacy. They were two of Somalia's most skilled leaders, and certainly light-years better than the foul dictator that followed them and destroyed the country. I just wanted to note that their government was a troubled one, and not really one that was on course to deliver great things for Somalia at the time.

Yes I think Sharmake was a skilled politician and a competent leader that would have turned Somalia from a donor dependent country into a country that produces its own income. I also believe the Isaaqs might have been the most wealthy among the Somalis by now followed by the Puntlanders and then Dir.

We lost a good man that could have built strong institutions.
