I think we should discuss this because I hear conflicting theories or sometimes partial theories that do not cover the whole incident. We have to remember none of us were there and relying on sources who were, but we can use 'reason/intellect' to ensure it fits the narrative that Somalia was in.
@Man with a garuun has linked his theory with the on-ground political realities of the day. For example he said.
1.Abdirashid was anti-west after he asked JFK for military aid and was rejected. This relates to the political narrative of the day to build a military
2. Abdirashid threw his allegiance to the USSR who was going to fulfill that role. This is speculation but makes sense he would seek another world power.
3. The CIA used front-men like PM egal, Mohamed Abshir Hamane the police chief, and General Daud(military chief) to organize a lowly soldier to assasinate Sharmarke. The security agencies had to play a role which this theory sits well with.
What this theory doesn't address however is after sharmarke was killed, who was to take over which I think @The Midlands went into explaining his theory of the take over post sharmarke, maybe he can fill the 'gap' left by.
The only thing Somalis agree to is Muse Boqor was going to succeed Abdirashid Sharmarke.
Once we put together all the partial theories together we may reach a reasonable conclusion.
