It feels like negative Somali exposure in the media has increased since the whole feeding our future thing. I’m not sure it has but it sure feels like it. I was ignoring the constant hate Somalis were receiving on the internet, thought it was just an internet thing. But now the Trump administration and the press seem to be targeting Somalis, a minority within a minority. Are we really that visible?

Maybe it’s recency bias on my part and the magnitude of the recent events that involved Somalis but his first term pales in comparison no? Just last month a white woman was rewarded millions by the American public for verbally attacking a child and a Somali bystander. The White House is now highlighting Somalis and displaying us as trophies in their deportation efforts. Trump is far more invigorated in his second term than his first term. The American public seems to be significantly more radicalized now than during his first term too.

The caadan women incident happened right after a madow teen got a million on gfm after he k*lled his caadan classmate. It was essentially a reaction to that so bad timing ig. The page posts deportation mugshots to try and reassure republicans that they’re actually carrying out deportations but despite this trump is still on track to deport less people than his dem predecessors. I think it’s a show type thing like if they make a big deal out of it then the public will think they’re deporting a lot of people. There’s a reason why they stopped posting a tracker showing how many people they were deporting daily/weekly and started posting mugshots instead. Their supporters were arguing in the replies and saying the numbers were too low.
He’s going all out this term because he’s surrounded by tech moguls who are extremely online & extremely cuunsuri and they see people online complaining about caadan tourists being arrested & deported so this is their way of consoling them and showing them that they are arresting the “right” people. Like racist caadans were mad asf that this antivax, rw caadan man was arrested & sent to an immigration facility (his wife also voted for trump btw) so posting mugshots of minorities they have arrested is their way of appealing to them like “we may have arrested & deported 100 caadans but at least we got one somali guy” basically.

Tariq was looking more like a light skin Nigerian when he was younger. Probably had a twinge of cadaan blood as well. A good set of hair, good haircut, access to dentist and grooming, make a mans face more symmetrical.
