A quarter of the world’s population will be African by 2050

The good news is that the incompetent, cash strapped regimes in Africa may find it increasingly difficult to control such large populations; and this could be an opportunity to start pushing demands for extensive reforms.

And here comes the very AbdiFreedom that strenuously and bitterly contests accusations of coonery every time people call him out for precisely these sorts of statements.

The ideal is to have a TFR of 2.5-3, similar to Vietnam/Indonesia/North Africa. You want your population to maintain/slightly grow. The higher the birth rate the higher the economic growth has to be. A lot of African countries have become poorer over the last 40 years since population growth is higher than economic growth. Somewhere like Niger needs to grow at 8% just not to stagnate.

An exploding population is bad for Africa and the world. More takers than contributors. Impoverished and corrupt. A low trust continent. Terrorism and super high crime rates. I don't care if it's insensitive. Go cry somewhere else. People don't like to hear the truth these days.

How many times must you rehash this factually incorrect presentation of Africa's economic relations with the West?

Africa loses far more to the West than the other way round -- and this is not even taking into account the problems associated with unequal exchange.

Why is it that the entirely benevolent West (in your mind's eye) assassinated a number of visionary, competent and promising leaders and replaced them with the likes of Mobutu Seko?

I am the one of the very few Black people who lives in reality and doesn't cry victim.

You're one of the many that uncritically absorbs presentations that ignore the salient facts about the nearly $200 billion that is directly taken from Africa and instead emphasises the $30 billion that Africa receives.

This is a continent whose very survival relies on aid from the same countries who are experiencing and are projecting lackluster economic growth in the short to medium term.

A repeat of a greatly cherished lie in the West.

Planet earth will not well served by 3 billion people who live in the most dangerous, poorest, most diseased and corrupt continent in the world.

Yet more nonsense; Africa's contribution to the planet's ecological malaise are comparatively inconsequential.

This means more refugees, more aid, more slums, expansion of more terrible infrastructure (or no infrastructure), more war and conflict, more environmental damage. There's not a single good argument for this. Get real. This is terrible news. Remember me if you live to age 80 or 90 when you see the world turn into an even bigger shithole. The peak of the world's greatness was around the late 2000s. The rollercoaster has been going down ever since. It will crash when your children become old.

Africa is not a net recipient of aid

Africa's fate depends of what we do with our regional blocs, and there is much we can do to lay the groundwork for sustainable population & economic growth.

Africa should employ family planning.....Having many mouths that you can't feed is just a disaster. People should take into account the mother's health and their financial resources before they start popping out kids.

Much of what you wrote is emotional diarrhea and not factual.

The west has allegedly been involved in assassinating many politicians outside Africa. The Africans are not unique in that regard. Leaders are mostly powerless in transforming their nations. It's the people who collectively do. There's no evidence to suggest Lumumba would have not ended up being a dictator as do many African leaders after being "democratically" elected. He died like 70 years ago or something. Stop using that as an excuse for the present situation. Stop mopping around and saying "what if?". Look ahead. Instead, say "what now?"

Somalia alone has received more than $50B in western aid since the war. I want to know what happened to that money when we are staring at yet another looming famine. The leader of some guys tribe and some fake presidents took it. But instead, let's blame whitey who gave Somalia that money in the first place.

The $200B is the price of doing business of a population that is not skilled enough to extract their own resources and build their industries. Nothing is free. Why dont you volunteer for your employer? What knowledge and skills have the local workers gained during this time from their foreign managers?

Keep blaming whitey for the next 100 years and see where it takes you except only in negative thoughts. You talk about visionaries. You bring up 1 guy from colonial times. Where are these other visionaries in this country of 100 million or something?
