6 Months extension for Deni is necessary to complete the democratization process

I think we need at least 6 additional Months after 8th January to hold parliamentary elections. This will unfortunately break our proud tradition of holding elections in time but I feel it's necessary if we want to move on from the primitive system we currently have.

25th May 2022- 25th May 2024 should be enough

Deni can easily hold elections on time whether or not parliament cooperates and makes the change to the constitution regarding number of parties. If parliament refuses to increase the number of parties to 5, Deni will still have enough time to hold elections by Jan 8.

Puntland can easily hold Dutch style simple three party parliamentary elections by Jan 8.
Anyone who tells you it cannot is a liar. The state capacity is demonstrably available. Puntland is more capable than we think.

Elections always happening on time is a big cap. Didn't Faroole extend his tenure for 1 year, thus making Puntland's presidential term 5 years instead of 4?

To be fair for about three of those years he was dealing with Farmaajo n Fahad. From late 2021 to now, a ridiculous amount of work has been accomplished with regard to getting 1M1V municipal elections.

I believe given a short extension this govt could provide satisfactory 1M1V parliamentary elections. Besides, if we revert to the standard system of electing our leaders, whose to say the next one will be as supportive of suffrage?

Nope. During AY the constitution was a draft and the term was 3 years, another drafted version came out under Cadde Muuse and the term was changed to 4 year term. When it was finalized during Faroole the term was changed to 5 years. A salient detail is that the draft versions of the constitution and the finalization of the constitution did not happen in the last year of the sitting president’s term but at the beginning of their presidency. It was an evolving process but not a flat out extension.

The elections must and will happen on time. Deni will come and go but Puntland will last InshAllah.

I 100% mean it. Deni has made all the donors run to the FGS arms. All because of a personal feud with HSM. We welcome and we hope he keeps up those unreasonable demands alienating PL from other FMS and Banaadir based opposition groups.
