Ive got a xj cherokee and i go off roading at times. there are location in my region we are allowed to to that . When your off roading and on dirt road your vehicle doesnt travel the same way on paved roads. Im not say your vehicle cant but if you do its a uncomfortable ride and too bumpy. also going a slower speed on unpaved roads will have less wear on your vehicle

To be fair, most of that land is too arid to do much of anything with without serious rehabilitation like what they've done with the Loess Plateau or the sorts of methods Savory talks about. Saudi Arabia is practically the size of Western Europe but has like 1/10th its population? Cos, well, most of that is desert. What can be done with it without serious work?
