As much as I love the first Independence Day movie, I always found the unseen Aliens of the X-Files or the Colony more terrifying psychologically than big space ships evaporating entire cities.

The 3 Body Problem does the psychological terror well. If you enjoyed that, I would also recommend ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’.

Immensely enjoyed the books, it's up there with the foundation books by Isaac Asimov, wasn't aware it was on netflix.
