24 men involved in the r*pe of two young sisters in Lascanood, Sool, Somalia.

This brother sums it up accurately
Burgal has the best takes - most of the time. But I disagree with one point. It's not our culture to do kufsi. It's our culture to side with our kinsmen. That's a big difference. And when it comes to crimes against women - it always goes back to clan dynamics and women are equally worth the blame if not more. Heck, they tend to be more clannist than men.

We are a tribal society. That tribalism dictates how we treat each other - good or bad. To say only men engage in terrible crimes is misleading.

Men from lowly clans don't even cat-call women of bigger clans. It's clan that determines our culture primarily - not gender (gender still plays a role).

Matters of r@pe and gender violence is always settled by clan politics.

The outcome of this heinous crime depends on the clan dynamics of the victims and the perpetrators.

Hope SSC kills them all. Fuckers.

They should all be hanged in the city centre of Laaska. The administration shouldn’t fumble self governance at this stage.

Its pretty sad. I feel like the same things are always said. People get mad at this injustice and then the crime doesnt get punished. We forget about it and then it happens to some1 else. Even with these 23 guys their will be families tht will say their lives shouldnt be ruined just cuz of a girl. Smh

Every time there's a public uproar usually sparked on social media , it often pushes the police to investigate, and more often than not, the perpetrators are punished, sometimes even sentenced to death. So the outrage isn't for nothing; it actually moves things forward.

I see it the same way people reacted to the graduation shooting that happened recently. Even though that kind of thing has never happened in the 30+ years Somalis have lived in Minnesota, the community reacted with widespread outrage and blame , in a country where gun violence is unfortunately routine. That one incident was blown up and generalized across all Somali youth.

In that case, the boys were arrested, but instead of allowing the legal process to play out, Somalis created mass hysteria. Months , even years , will go by without another similar case, and then when something happens again, the same cycle of outrage returns.

Personally, I don’t mind it. The outrage itself is a signal that these acts are not common or tolerated in Somali society. The more people get angry and speak out, the less room there is for such crimes to go unchecked.

It also creates pressure to strengthen law enforcement and institutions. For instance, after public outcry, Puntland established a forensic lab to help gather evidence and increase conviction rates. They even passed tougher legislation in response to prior cases.

So while the anger may seem repetitive, it reflects a community that still deeply cares and that’s how change starts.

I hope they get the death penalty. But im not fully convinced it will happen. Its a good sign they arrested all of them but 24 people is a lot. I dont know if the local govt can handle the pushback from all the qabils of these guys

There's gotta be a mutual understanding when it comes to certain crimes. These elders need to understand some niggas just gotta die.

Send an executioner from each qabil just so they can execute their own men in front of everyone.
