23andme went through an update last month.

I was a 100% Somali for years and now they added some foreign shit in my ancestry composition. But it’s probably noise at best. Whoever else did 23andme should check theirs out and share if that’s the case for them too.

It’s not an actual change in our DNA. 23andMe said the update just uses “better reference panels, more populations, and more precise assignments.” But it doesn’t add up.

Went from been 100% Somali to 99.5% Somali & 0.5% Congolese and Southern East African. Apparently it traces back to 3000 years ago. This seems to be the case for many Somalis, differently noise.

It’s not an actual change in our DNA. 23andMe said the update just uses “better reference panels, more populations, and more precise assignments.” But it doesn’t add up.

Also they said the new update improves error detection in DNA phasing through advanced algorithms. Maybe it does not apply to us Somalis but the update is a better reference to Europeans and indigenous americans. I think it shiffted the whole data targets especially the horn africans. Ethiopians and Eritreans are having the same problem.

For some reason, the recent update is a better fit for you, makes sense your slightly shifted right on the PCA, it also shows on your g25 coordinates and Vahaduo.

Same, it added 1.9% Eritrean but there’s literally no ancestor of mine that had that, before it was 100%

Did it give you a region? I've noticed it's just mostly the SR and Oromia for Somalis with ancestry in the SR.

Does anyone have any Ogadens or Girri 23andmes relatives?

It just highlighted the horn as purple. When I click the 1.9% it doesn’t tell me group or region it seems faulty
