In 2024, Middle Shabelle produced:

-1261 tons of cowpea
-4020 tons of sesame
-12390 tons of maisie
-9100 tons of rice
-186 tons of sorghum

That will feed around 100k people.

I went through your source as I found myself bored enough to check it out.

First I want it to be noted, that you are either ignorant of your own source or that you are eristic fool here only to score points. If latter pls don't respond to me again.

Your own source states that in 2024 the region produced 24,750 tons of maize the caloric value of that crop alone is enough to feed closer to 120,000 ppl. Not to mention there were other crops in wide cultivation like 18,200 tons of rice which feeds around 100,000 ppl for a year.

Second to point out how ridiculous your source is I'll explain to you why that makes absolutely zero sense. To produce 24,750 tons of maize. You would need 2,000 hectares . Of course those are only under top notch conditions(mid-west) where 1 hectare yields around 12 tons of maize annually.

Now according to various sources, average yield that a hectare of Cambisols soil can give a subsistence farmer is 2-4 tons. In Middle Shabelle there is 300,000 hectares of cultivated land engaging in a maize production. So yeah FSNAU is not a credible source.

If you think your source is credible, pls care to explain to us, why you think so and what are these restraints that farmers in Middle Shabelle face, that few large Farms in US.midwest can outperform?
