1992 man made famine of Baidoa caused by SNF.

Approximately three decades ago, Somalia experienced a harrowing civil war that left an indelible mark on the nation. This conflict caused the displacement of millions of Somalis and led to the tragic loss of over a million lives due to both warfare and famine. It is worth noting that the civil war had a more concentrated impact on certain areas, with the capital city, Mogadishu, and other prominent urban centers being among the hardest-hit. One city, in particular, stands out in this dark chapter: Baidoa.

As many are aware, Baidoa became a battleground for warlords vying for power. The events that transpired between 1991 and 1993 in Baidoa constituted a deliberate act of genocide by power-hungry factions, including the SPM/SNF and USC. After the arrival of aid agencies and military rescuers, Baidoa earned the grim moniker of "The City of Death" due to the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the warring factions. According to reports from aid agencies, it was estimated that over 200 people were losing their lives daily in Baidoa during that tumultuous period.

It is disheartening that there has been a lack of widespread condemnation from within the Somali community regarding this genocide and ethnic cleansing carried out by these warlords. Some were directly involved in these horrific acts, while others remained silent. It is indeed ironic to see Somalis are condemning acts of war crimes. ( tollow ma hadey muslim noqdeen) daa

Yes, I spoke to some of them. They said that the SPM/SNF ،USC militias burned their farms, and when they were didn't die , they discovered that they were eating one of the fruits, so they also cut those fruits Before that, they looted Grain stores . It was the biggest disaster in the history of Somalia More than 100 thousand died .

According to UNOSOM advisor John Drysdale:

The famine was a combination of drought and a seven-month military occupation of the area by three divisions of Siad Barre’s army. The former president had moved his headquarters from the Gedo region to Baidoa on September 15, 1991, to prepare for a military reoccupation of Mogadishu seven months later. Meanwhile, his soldiers plundered grain stores in this agricultural area, destroying pumps and implements in their wake. Farming came to a standstill. Barre’s army of occupation did not leave the area until April 22, 1992. On the road to Wanle Weyn it suffered its initial defeat at Aideed’s hands before retreating rapidly to the Kenya border. Its seven month occupation left villages upon villages of destitute farming communities. It took three months for the impact of growing mass starvation to hit the world’s television screens

These are 100 pictures of those events. Some people may not believe that this happened
What really happened was terrible, and you must know that those who did this live free, and are even heroes to their tribe, and some of them hold government positions.

Yes sadly. Those who committed these henious crimes live freely. No reprecussions and would even be defended by their fellow tribesmen.

To be frank, have anyone been held accountable for the war crimes of the last 40 years (and counting)?

Unfortunately, it’s the same pattern everywhere throughout the country.

There’s a video a man filmed during the famine where he interviewed nomads that were escaping. They said it was marehaan rebels that was raping, killing their livestocks and stealing their sons.

Indeed SNF was a Marehan dominated jabhad.

That xayawaan Morgan needs to be publicly executed for all the crimes he's done in Somalia from starving the Raxanweyn to carpet bombing the second largest city in the country. He has the blood of ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND on his hands. That's 1 in 21 Somalis born in the last century dead because of his actions. :faysalwtf:

Morgan is still alive! It is now that we should introduce accountability for atrocities committed in the 90s. Morgan should be first in line to serve the death penalty.

Are you sure that more than 1m RX died? Is this true @mohamedismail?

Most sources I've seen have said that 200-300k have died from the famine in 1992, which includes all clans.
The estimations is 500k. But it could have been more since that was only in Baidoa. The famine also took the lives of people living in Baay, Shabeelada hoose and also parts of jubooyinka.
