AUN, My condolences to the young girl's family , this is a distraughting news , it's unbearable to watch the authorities , let the perpetrators slide away from justice, this is not something new, these activities have been happening countless times, off the record there are hundreds of unreported rape incidents but it never got on the surface.
Since Somalis are a male dominated society , addressing rape is taboo especially for Somali women , it's not that they'll suffer severely from ostracization, marginalisation and endless haunting ,
We can not consider this to be individual cases this plague like the yeast infections is a pandemic in the Somali Peninsula , for decades.
As we've witnessed last year,
Tribal affiliations, clan elders and kinsmen regardless of their deegaans play a key role concealing the perpetrators, according to their distorted way of "sharaf/sumcad" it can tarnish one's reputation thus it leads to harbouring dangerous criminals , an endless cycle of violence.
This is how the Mooryaans got away with the hundreds of thousands attrocities they committed during the 90's and now living comfortably in the west, it's the same clan elders that are enabling this.
If we can manage to separate tribalism from politics (just like how most secular states separate the church from the state) Then the chances of abolishing their twisted concept is inevitable.
We need to wage a full scale war on those discreetly condoning.
But then again , this will likely happen and this vicious cycle continues , creating more disasters.
