Janan was named Commander of NISA Jubaland in a ploy by HSM to secure Gedo region MPs so he can re-elect himself. NISA in Dolow were attacked by the district commissioner of Dolow (allied to Ahmed Madobe) and forces loyal to him aided by Ethiopia's National "Defense" Force in order to drive out NISA personnel and staff from the city.

How many different shaatis has Janan worn throughout the years? This dude has been in the bush fighting for most of his adult life. Al-Itixaad foot soldier, TPLF agent and Doolow governor, JL security minister, and now NISA Gedo head.
I would actually like to see him succeed in dislodging the ENDF horgaal Lafey from Luuq. The Ethiopians are full entrenched in this town. They occupy both the airport and either side of the bridge.
If Gurguurte is successful in capturing Gedo, he will have a very strong hand against the mucaraad in any future negotiations with Waqooyi Bari support already secured. I think he'll drop the shenanigans with changing the constitution and 1M1V as a bargaining chip in exchange for having his way with forming the next election committee ahead of 2026.

If Mahad Salad is successful than it's truly the end for Lafey. Either he obeys his itoobiyan masters and ditches madoobe on their orders or between fights for Madobe at the risk of losing his sugar daddy relationship with Ethiopia. It's a lose lose for him either way. Especially if push comes to shove Janan now has the upper hand and will easily be able to dislodge Lafey from Dolow with superior numbers. Dolow airport will be opened for sure and FGS will airlift troops from Garbaharey to secure the town before leaving Reer Dolow local security forces to handle regular adminstration.

They’re not looking to take over, it’s a paralel administration, they looking to delegitimise Axmed Madobe administration and Jubaland.
Although I’d argue MX in Gedo have their interests with Jubaland proper and not distant FGS corporation.
Reer Gedo have the perfect opportunity to align with the FGS and dismantle Madoobe. Mogadishu doesn't care about clan/subclan divergencies if you are loyal to the regime in the Capital as we have seen with SSC. Any betting man would know Madoobe is only entrenching his own clique. The FGS is an elected body that can change hands. In the long run it is always better to support the State than anti state actors who aren't bounded by anything to conduct themselves properly. The State, with the right resources and politicians, can atleast face accountability both domestically and internationally. HSM is not really a bad person here. Had Madoobe been amicable to Muqdisho right from the beginning like GM/HS/KG, he would have ruled peacefully and exited peacefully. Perhaps with enough support he could have competed for the FGS kursi itself.
FGS cannot be a “regime” and “elected body” at the same time, nor will it change hands. Corrupt politicians from non Hawiye clans being the token faces on a Hawiye project will not fool anyone.
The basic foundation of Somali politics is democracy. HSM may try to sabotage elections but it will very likely not pull through. He held elections quite fairly in 2016 and gave up the kursi. Alot of you folks are doomers. You always think a massive Civil War is around the corner. HSM is not Siad Barre and Deni/Madoobe/Sharif/Kheyre are not USC/SPM/SSDF. Muqdisho is rebuilding every day, the shacab themselves would stop a potential war before any militiaman.

Jubaland 'proper' in this case is Ahmed Madobe and his pocket on control in LJ and the only reason certain subsections of Marehan associate with him is because he plays marehan against each other.
No one is dumb enough to think HSM has our best interests at heart, but he has provided a vehicle for MX in JL to finally come together and challenge madobe. Now if the FGS actually recognizes Marehan led JL in Gedo over Kismayo - Madobe JL pocket and legitimizes such an administration it would give them the resources and recognition to incentivize other Marehan to join.

Yes there is Hawiye opposition to HSM but HSM is quite the politician. He won't blockade them or refuse to meet as shown recently. He told them to speak with Deni and Madoobe, who told them HSM must back down on XYZ terms. HSM is now working on dividing all the opposition. He recognised a new maamul goboleed, which none of them had offered to congratulate. He also has the IC on his side. It is not hard to make Deni or Madoobe look bad, they were considered spoilers in Farmaajo's term and the same now. You can call HSM a hypocrite for getting PuntJub support in a reelection but so what? Every human takes their chances to get ahead.
You are looking at this from a Hawiye vs Darod perspective. They are still the Darod FMS in the 4.5 quota. Even if Deni and Madoobe were defeated it bears no weight on the future of your clan interests. We just need the country to be aligned as one.
