Congressman Scott Perry Introduces "Republic of Somaliland Independence Act"

For more than three decades, Somaliland demonstrated the kind of governance, stability, and cooperation that America should support, said Congressman Perry.Foreign adversaries are on the march in Africa and around the globe, and it’s in our national interest to strengthen relationships with reliable partners who share our values and contribute to our security – whenever and wherever possible.
Somaliland has established itself as a stable, democratic, and reliable partner in East Africa. As China expands its influence across the globe, strengthening our alliances with free nations like Somaliland is more important than ever," said Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-O5). "I support the people of Somaliland in their pursuit of independence and look forward to building a strong partnership with them as allies."

This is a smart, strategic bill, and I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of Congressman Perry’s effort to recognize Somaliland. They’ve governed themselves peacefully for decades, built strong ties with Taiwan, and refused to bow to the Chinese Communist Party. They’ve even offered the U.S. military access to a key port in the Gulf of Aden. That’s what a real partner looks like, and it’s time we treated them like one, said Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10).

It is a simple fact that Somaliland is a sovereign and self-governing nation separate from Somalia, and U.S. policy should reflect that," said Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07).
At a time of intensifying competition with China, Iran, and other hostile actors in the region and around the globe, the United States cannot afford to brush off allies. This bill ensures American leadership remains strong in East Africa, and sends a clear signal that the U.S. will stand with responsible partners who uphold stability and sovereignty.

This is the same bill that Rep. Perry has introduced back in 2024, H.R. 10402- Republic of Somaliland independence Act. It was eventually referred to House of foreign affairs committee, it has a minimal support in the US Congress, and is reportedly dead.

118th Congress ended and so all unpassed bills are removed. The bill you are talking about was introduced in December 2024 and congress ended on Jan 2025.

Rep. Perry didn't introduce this act again in this 119th congress according to the congress website that shows all the introduced bills.

These are all the 18 bills introduced by rep. Perry in the current 119th congress. It doesn't show any bill about Somaliland.

Nobody on the House Foreign Committee is wasting their time with this useless shit. Neither is Scott Perry iirc he won by the slimmest of margins in his latest re-election bid 50.8% of the vote. Maybe he should focus on bills that would actually make him popular with his constituents none of whom are Landers.

How can America recognize SL, U need to be recognized by the UN or voted on in there which is the international rules based order not America, their not even following proper global fucking norms.

Before your even considered for international recognition u need to convince the one your seeking to disturb his territorial integrity like Somalia approval, as the UN upholds its legality or else as it can allow all countries and member states to begin pursue interfering in external country territories and give recognition like China recognise Texas on the precedent America recognised SL and didn't go thru rules based order process. The whole sea, land, and air of each country will essentially mean nothing and this cud lead to a break down of the world as we know it.

Going behind the scenes and breaking the international law itself shows your not a rules based state but Mafia thugs.

This sort of stuff hurts SL image not help it.

Yes becasue it's not on the website yet it doesn't exist. This is the typical logical of Somaliweyn enthusiasts who love to attack Somaliland online but in reality they cannot do anything.
No need to get boiled over a simple question; where's the evidence?! What's the H.R No. of this bill?! Where's it?
