tribalism didn't destroy the nation, it was having a overstayed communist dictatorship(all communist governments collapsed around the same time), tribalism in my opinion is a positive

The Dictator Siyad Barre was using tribalism to discriminate against other clans which led to a rebellion which led to anarchy and the current instability we have. Somalis can't work together on a lot of issues because of this stupid tribal mindset. Instead of focusing on building their nation, Somalis would rather land grab, steal, kill and involve their barbaric tribalism into politics. Instead of fighting shabaab, Somalis would rather fight in Clan wars.

I don't think he was using tribalism honestly, look at how he didn't develop his regions but the hawiye one in mogadishu, it was more about his politics then tribalism, also why in the world would you rather have and alshabaab war than small tribal disputes? id rather take the latter as its a non issue

Hargeisa is pretty nice for a city who doesn't recieve much money and btw, there's no price on safety. the same safety that you can only get in SL.

And Mogadishu is absolutely shitty for a country that has been receiving billions of dollars of support. for the past 30 years.

Siyaad Baare built Somalia, established Somali writing, advocated for greater Somalia, initially tried to contain tribalism until it became impossible, nationalised a lot of public services, basically did a lot of good for the country.
