How are Reer Gedo being outmaneuvered by Reer Jubba?

By all rights, Reer Gedo should have more political capital in Somalia. They have been present longer on the Somali political scene. Their territory is largely within the Somali borders and in numbers they should be more than Reer Jubba according to 4.5 clan representation.

However since Barre Hiiraale left his wife and children behind in Kismayo in 2008 we have been hearing "we will capture Kismayo, this is part of a grand strategy, diplomatic pressure" etc. To put it in perspective in 2008 I was listening to T-Pain's "Bartender" now I'm listening to Lil Nas X's "Panini.

So where did it go wrong? Did they choose wrong allies? Was there internal conflict?

Stupid attempt for isku dir.

Kismaayo belongs to all Somali so does Gedo. Reer Gedo have no more rights than any other Somali nor deserve unduly "political capital"

For someone who's young and maybe educated in the west your backwards as hell

Reer Gedo fully support Jubaland and their president Ahmed Islam. The problem is with Galguduud refugees and their leader Farmajo who have been pushed out of their ancestral land.

They can bark on the internet as much as they want but they'll never have a foot in Jubaland.

Seriously, how can you act holier than thou after engaging in tribal bashing? I can't stand those who hide behind a coat of nationalism when they are tribalists.

They haven't outsmarted anyone. The situation in Kismayo is still very fluid.

OGs are in a bind: they cannot control Kismayo without Kenya, and Kenya is only in Kismayo so it can help itself to Somalia's ocean territory and other valuable resources. When OGs embrace low life figures such as Adan Barre Duale, who called upon Kenya to not wait for the court decision but to military seize the ocean territory, in what was a pathetic attempt to grovel and seek favor before his kikuyu masters, they are sending the signal that they are willing to put their own narrow political interests in Kismayo ahead of Somalia's broader strategic and economic interests. I don't think this will be a winning strategy for them.

MXs need to more aggressively depict OGs and Blackie as a fifth column. The battle in Kismayo needs to be seen in the context of the ocean court-case, and not in the context of the long and failed attempt of MXs to regain clan control of Kismayo.

Are you new to Somali politics sxb? Don't forget about 2008 when Ogaden led by Madoobe destroyed Ethiopians and their MX puppets in Kismayo. Listen to Hiraale crying about it afterwards :drakelaugh:

You had Ethiopia and still got smashed so why are you crying about Kenya like naago? :williamswtf:

Ethiopia is not currently trying to steal ocean territory worth hundreds of billions of dollars from Somalia. Ethiopia is now led by a noble peace prize winning Oromo who has thrown his full support behind one united Somalia. As Farmaajo said, that canal has been closed. Stop trying to use Ethiopia as a red herring to distract from your naked shilling for Kenya, you fifth column rat

Don't change the subject now. You said "OG can't control Kismayo without Kenya" which is clearly false as I've shown you that we smashed Ethiopia + MX in 2008 without foreign support. If anything it is Kenya who stopped MX from being all out massacred in 2012 and 2013.

Even if Kenya leaves, what makes you think Madobe would lose Kismayo? As far as I am aware he has brought in his tribesman who surrendered to the Ethiopians in the ONLF deal and even if they are depicted as a fifth column, Ogaden are still part of Somalia, the Somali government and the parliament. You are telling me that Marehan will use the banner of Somalia to defeat other Somalis.

I personally never cared if Madoobe leaves or stays, or whether an OG politican controls Kismayo. I'd say maybe only about 25-30% of MXs are pathologically obsessed with Kismayo and the clan origin of who is in charge, while others are willing to go with whoever brings peace. I only turned against Madoobe when it became clear he was willing to put his position above Somalia's interests. Madoobe needs to come out with a strong statement renouncing Kenya's claims to Somalia's ocean territory, and denouncing individuals such as Aden Barre Duale who have called for Kenya to forcibly steal Somali territory. He has not done that. In fact, he along with throngs of ululating women just welcomed Duale to Kismayo yesterday. Blackie knows he's an illiterate stooge and he's playing the part well.
