Assad has done that and much worse, yet obedience is still required. There was a wisdom in the inheritance law change. For example, Somali women are much better with finances and wouldn't burn it all on khat. Household wealth would be double, nay, triple what it is now if arrogant Somalis didn't decide they know better than Allah's hikmah

Let's not lose sight of Allah's mercy. Yes Barre did some things, but he was no Saddam or Mubarak. Allah in His infinite benevolence put one of the most mild dictators in the line-up over Somalis. So when we worthless goats showed our ingratitude, the punishment and degradation for us was much worse. That is why after three decades we still haven't gotten it together while Syria is on the road to renewal.
