I know of Somali Mothers who have at least 3-4 sons in prison.I know of a woman whose Son is doing a murder charge and 3 of her other sons are criminals .I wouldn’t surprised if the youngest hasn’t joined in by now .It’s deep.

Exactly. I know a family with 3 boys - 2 are repeat offenders getting sentences over 2 years. One of them attended his own dad's funeral prayer chained to a prison guard. It's a life with no dignity. His dad basically died while he was serving a sentence. They wouldn't even let him attend the burial.

I see hoyos coming into the visitor centre sitting there all stressed waiting for me to tell them where to go next. I can empathise because although i don't have any children, I am sure when she was pregnant with her child she didn't think he would end up in a prison and she would be sitting in a grimy visitor's centre listening to some cadaan people saying 'same time again next week i guess' to each other.

Realistically though, I know their son is gonna complete his sentence and probably go back in. That is if he doesn't die in there like a few Somali guys have in the last year or so . This is because the root causes of his offending won't have been tackled, family will still be living in the same fucked up estate, government cuts to probation etc. It is bleak. Imo, a lot of them would benefit from therapy but try to get an uneducated Somali interested in therapy. It is impossible.

Every Somali community or small area must start an investment fund for the youth in their area .Folks contribute every month , then that money should be used so children can go to the beach or camps in the holidays , employ young Somali professionals to tutor them as opposed to foreign teachers and also sporting activities . Parenting classes/training on social media use, drug awareness and education should be held at these centres. This shouldn’t be a problem since many folks already pay contributions to their clan.

When we were growing up , we knew every other Somali male within a 10 mile radius because our familys’ told us we were from the same qabil , or we went to same dugsi or we played football together .This made it impossible for us to beef over areas unless someone started trouble on the other side of London or another city .

Some of our Scandinavians brothers and sisters have similar funds at their mosques which goes to youth facilities at their mosques .Most Somali mosques in the UK aren’t really built for the youth .They should be held accountable because the parents pay money for their services.

Somali kids are now feuding over areas less than 2 miles apart .Meanwhile , their fathers probably do FDK together or pray at the same Masjid . That could have easily been stopped if the community networked and introduced these children to each other at a younger age . If you stay in your bedroom and council estate for fifteen years , it becomes life .

My point is , in a western capitalist system ,class is a very important factor in determining life chances ,therefore those who are working or lower class need to build infrastructure or networks to minimise the risks posed to their children . You have to understand you are already at a handicap and thus you must do your utmost to keep your children busy.The Asians do this well .All my Sikh friends at school went to Karate class and Punjabi language lessons.As soon as they finished school , most of them started doing driving lessons and their families found them part time jobs .You create a culture of responsibility and hardwork from a young age.

Many Somali kids in the UK have no clue about how to save money , safe social media use or basic life skills .Many girls are allowed free reign to use the internet from the age of 10 where they learn all kinds of qashin, bullying and sexualised behaviour because they are groomed by perverts .The government and schools can only do so much for children who have been emotionally damaged from birth due to chaos and lack of parental awareness.
