What was the most important invention in history

Toothbrush and cadar, for obvious reasons. :diddyass:
People using basic caday in the past had better mouth hygiene than the people using toothbrushes today.

These are old sources, either from the early 1900s or mid to late 1800s, so the pre-toothbrush era for Somalis.

Every outsider said the same thing, Somalis had pearly white teeth using only caday, and these were the ones who had toothbrushes. Somalis were better before the toothbrush was introduced because mouth hygiene was superior to everyone else before that. People never walked with brown stained teeth, and bad-smelling breath as you think.

And the matter of cadar too, Somalis had the highest quality of frankincense - that was the ancient cadar. People smelled good.

We had trade with all the civilizations of old so we had access to everything under the sun if we needed other forms of cadar which was a plus since we gave the Arabians civet which was the crucial ingredient for perfume and we also had unusually high access to whale droppings which were also strangely used for perfume.

No one came to us and gave us a better way in those departments. And we were also hygienic and cleaned ourselves often whenever we could. Comparing Somalis to Central Ethiopians, mentioning wearing clean white clothes, washing in every well and being clean compared to the Shewa Ethiopians (source from 1903):

I read that in every pool of water, the Somali would bathe whenever the Cadaan ajnabi went for an expedition.

Notice when the Western man says that Somalis would rather die than touch alcohol compared to the central Ethiopians.

None of those Westerners ever came and gave us any dignity with their so-called inventions.

This was a digression of the overall thread but I figured it needed a response because many Somalis think we were like other groups that did not keep hygiene, smelled bad, and did not care how they appeared with their teeth in bad shape before this so-called age modernity -- that was not us, never should we internalize foreign history of such quality either. Many people did stink and had terrible hygiene and often project that to other groups centralizing their ignorance as a common human universal as you see with Europeans, but that does not apply to our history.

People have mentioned it but yes language, pen etc are crucial because the fact humans have the ability to pass down knowledge is why we are at the top of the food chain. Octopus is actually smarter than humans but they don’t have this ability to retain or pass down knowledge to their offspring. We do, and through trial and error, correcting our discoveries and findings we can better help the next generation and society and it’s something we’ve done since the beginning. “ Use this tool to fight that creature” “ don’t drink from that sea because it’s reported to have dirty water “ etc.
