If you were independent protectorate why did you receive independency in June 1960?

If you were independent protectorate why was your region administered by the Colonial Office?

Can we just stay on topic here and avoid the usual divisiveness? It seems like every single topic comes back to SL/SO, no matter the thread name. Let's try and think rationally.

Don't hold your breath sxb, these are our supposed golden generation engaging in petty colonial discourse about whom was lead out of the cage first and fighting over demarcation lines the colonialist drew on the sand during an Alcohol laced drug fuelled party with their women folk.

If you think this fear mongering is going to scare us you are sadly mistaken. Matter of fact, I welcome their further involvement.

God bless the UAE for realising their is no need to keep propping up failed unions like the rest of the useless Arab League.

Our destiny lies with them and I'm glad SL aligned themselves with the Emirates.

Small note here:
1. North Yemen are shia Muslim, while south are Sunni
2. Ethnic: the tribes North Yemen are mixed with Turkish, Persian, marginalized Ethiopians. South Yemen tribes are pure Arab, plus minority of Somali, Indian migrants.

Finally, pro secession Somalis, Yemen is different than Somalia who it's people share one religion Sunni, one ethnic group plus awdal and khatumo people reject the separation from Somalia).

@Canuck there's no shia in yemen in the matters of law or fiqh the Zaidis are actually closer to the sunni shafi school of thought so yemen is 99 % sunni.

They used to be like that before Iran send their scholars to them for the past 20 years, they are radicalized Shia now like Iran.
