It's true as people of kufa sent thousands of letters to medina asking Hussein to come to them so they can pay allegince to him as the rightful caliph of the ummah and fight alongside him against the Ummayed army but when he arrived in Iraq they didn't come to his aide where he was surrounded by an army led by former alide or shia of Ali commander Shamar dhu jowshin who beheaded Hussein in the battle of karabala.That makes zero sense whatsoeveryou can hate shias all you want but this is an insane allegation
