His mom is Dinka so that should be slightly >50% but it eats into the Somali component more than expected. Interestingly it also exposes trace east Asian, which I believe is from salient trace Austronesian present in all Somalis.

He's mostly "SSA". Somalis are 55-60~SSA. It's the same when somalis mix with a population of eurasian admixture, making the "genes" seem weak but that's because of our eurasian admixture.

Our "proto-east african ancestors" shared most of their ancestry with nilotes. We do also know what they looked like, there are reconstructions of mesolithic nubians likely resembling part of our ancestry.

The three main Nilotic tribes in South Sudan (Dinka, Nuer & Shilluk) share names in common but there are differences that only an insider like me would readily identify

Unlike the Nuer, the Dinka don't border the Habesh and other Horn Africans; we (Dinka) border the Sudanese Arabs across the entire border -- and this fact safeguarded South Sudanese's territories during the war.

It's more like Somali and Oromo; like the Oromo, the Nuer believe in absorbing and assimilating other populations; and they even make them their leaders -- once they've undergone the assimilation process.

Some Habesh were absorbed by the Nuer.

The Dinka are the only Nilotic population that don't believe in assimilating other people -- even other Nilotes; we believe that one must be born Dinka in order to be Dinka, and a Dinka with any foreign blood cannot lead us.
