Sure there were craftsmen in some coastal ports, but the Tumaal and the Gabooye were the experts in weaving mats, prayer mats, quran cases, weapons, sandals etc... Dying clothes, that was their expertise because the Somali clans regarded them of not being Somali thus they were barred from herding camels, sheep and oxen.
