With the story of abaarso students being affected by the Trump ban gaining publicity in the states more Americans are getting acquainted with Somaliland.

S/Land isn't recognized as a separate country so they will have to make their case on recognition which ultimately means this ban doesn't include them. The problem is, S/Land is seen as an autonomous region and not its own country.

It was overturned by the US federal 9th circuit court of appeals based in San Francisco, CA. The ban was overturned in a 3-0 federal court ruling. Somaliland's request is pointless.

S/Land isn't recognized as a separate country so they will have to make their case on recognition which ultimately means this ban doesn't include them. The problem is, S/Land is seen as an autonomous region and not its own country.

SL is legally speaking a member of the Somali federal republic and don't enjoy any recognition or legal international obligations as such. They could however make regional exemptions but it unlikely to happen. The ban is for a domestic US audience and making such exemptions would make it less effective to court his voters.

Furthermore, refugees are coming. The court ruled that everything has to be as if the ban never happened, and they are now about to decide if the ban is constitutional or passes the rational basis doctrine, meaning that the government has to advance a public interest.
