Political party registration has begun in PL

Today Gaas together with puntland transition electrol commission have opened the doors for political parties registration in garowe.

This is a step forward to democracy in order to leave behind clan based selection process.

PL will prove to be the most democractic region in somalia and probably the whole of East Africa.

I can finally say the hope of a nationalist party is becoming reality as me and my close allies are working on drafting statutes for the future party to be launched.

I have not yet checked the electoral commissions website to know the requirements but i will check on that soon.
Puntland is like a Salafi woman walking with her man always 2 or 3 steps behind Somaliland.
somaliland political parties have been a failure as they are owned by clans and they failed to hold parlementarian elections for 14 years and presidential for 7 years:camby:

Don't forget they only allow 3 parties that fall along qabil lines:snoop:

They had multi-party elections unlike puntland, Eigavo road somaliland was first puntland followed, Hido dhawr center in Hargeisa Garowe copied it, Hargeisa Book Fair you folks opened one in Garoow and DP Wordl deal. I wonder why Somaliland didn''t copy what Puntlanders are good at like Piracy and Oromo trafficking to Yemen.

Piracy is dead now, haven't been a major incident since 2012 hardly a criticism anymore

Democracy will never work in a, It will always take qabiil flavors. But anything is better than the 3.5 system in puntland today

They should allow as many parties as possible, and as many candidates as possible. Let the elections whittle down the number of parties naturally. Look towards NFD for ideas on how democracy and clan politics work together. Great step forward.

They should allow many parties but there should be proportional representation and block any party under 4-5% margin that would end clan politics.
