These valuable sites are not merely relics of the past; they are living testaments to the artistry, ingenuity, and history of our ancestors. Failing to recognize their significance is akin to erasing a crucial chapter of our collective identity. Just the other day part of the Lighthouse collapsed there's no need for modern looking buildings with ugly glass windows when we can preserve our cultural heritage. Wallahi its sad to think what will happen when greedy politicians build ugly high-rises here in a act of modernity.
I’ve been to that lighthouse right at the end. I noticed it while walking around Xamarweyne and took a couple pics of how it looks from below
Its been completely abandoned and now inhabited by squatters. The government must do more to preserve these buildings some of which are thousands of years old

They removed all the old pre-91 sidewalks for some reason. I wonder why
