In kenya population is of the utmost importance very crucial for the country's politics and recourses. You see every so called tribe votes for their own man so for example kikuyu the largest tribe voted for uhuru a kikuyu himself. Recourse are also allocated and distributed in accordance to the size of the said population. The larger your population is the more powerful you'd became and as such Kenyans are afraid of being ruled by somalis.

Now somalis are said to be the sixth largest tribe in kenya numbering around 3 million. The thing is if kenya is known for anything it's their bottomless corruption and their data is unreliable. The somali population in kenya is most likely larger than the official census would like you to believe and there is plenty of evidence to support this.

The somali population in kenya between the year 1962 the year census began in kenya up to the present time fluctuated quite dramatically. Some years it barely grew while in other it doubled. In the 2009 census the somali population showed more than a million inhabitants in mandera but the government adjusted the number after a protest by some kenyans. The larger the somali population is the more recourse they'll get so they tend to suppress the actual somali population as much as they can until they could no more and we'd get a dramatic increase in the somali population of kenya.

Now the somali fertility rate is around 6,3 in the whole of nfd and the region within nfd with the highest fertility rate is mandera 8. Furthermore the fertility rate in kenya is around 3.4 and without nfd it would be around 3.2-3.1. Somalis might very well grow by the end of the century to become the largest tribe in kenya and the rest of kenyas tribes would have to scramble up and unite politically and vote for someone other than their clan/tribe to keep somalis away from the presidential seat.

Future is bright then I think the Somali TFR in Kenya is higher then 6.3 because there downplaying garissas numbers the demographic transition is happening faster as the years go by already 15 percent of newborns are Somali
