What do you mean by grammar? The verb conjugations are similar to other Semitic languages and roots are also present in the language.

Amharic does have a lot of Agew loan words but it is definitely not that high
Agew languages and Beja are substratum languages for Ethio-Semitic languages. Like how Coptic/Egyptian is substratum of Egyptian Arabic, Berber/tamazigh is substratum of maghrebi arabic, Gaulish/Celtic is a substratum for Latin to form french etc.
