I was doing research on this and we will never get the f35 maybe not even the latest 16s/15s since we’re apart of MENA US foreign policy. Not only that Israel must maintain its qualitative military edge over Islamic nations which has been a priority for us foreign policy. Indonesia wasn’t allowed it. Turkey got kicked off despite being a NATO member for buying Russian s400 defence missiles although I believe the reason is more to do with Erdogan since turkey stated the US and other NATO allies were purposely weaponising the price of defence missiles leaving turkey vulnerable. Even after the UAE Americas “little Sparta” dogs normalised relations with Israel they still didn’t get it. Saudis haven’t got it neither jordan plus adding to that CATSA. Countering American adversaries through sanctions act means if we buy Russian weapons we will be sanctioned but I think it’s worth it. Egypts airforce is so trash because the us heavily downgrades their f16s so they’re unable to wage war against Israel despite normalisation. Even the missiles they get are older generation so in a possible war they’ll be completely outmatched. It wouldn’t come as a surprise to me if 1 Israeli jet destroyed 20 Egyptian ones because the technological edge is just that big. I think su 35s would be the best option. Even Israel’s pressuring the US to sell Egypt f15s so they don’t go for the su35s even though they would get sanctioned. Plus there would be no arms restrictions we could get the latest missiles from Russia etc instead of getting heavily downgraded US armaments. Our airforce even though it would be significantly smaller would challenge Saudis and the Arab nations must larger ones because of the technological edge we’d have. Saudi can’t buy Russian weapons because of their oil deal with the U.S + their closeness. Arab nations such as Jordan , egypt, Oman and the UAE are the Us’s lackeys with their dictator scared of losing their power so they’d prioritise their relationship with the US despite being militarily inferior in the region also unable to become the Middle East’s superpower. Since we’re redeveloping our military and even though we’re occupied by the US a change in government could mean a change in foreign policy and a massive change in fortunes. The US has a history of using diplomatic pressure and sanctions to pressure nations to buying inferior U.S. weapons which feed their military industrial complex, I mean even buying Chinese frigates and ships which are superior to US ones are shut down. If we can decrease our reliance on the US by diversifying our economy there would be no need to bow to their diplomatic pressure which is one of the benefits of being the poorest developing nation since we could choose our allegiance to fit our own dominance and foreign policy which at the moment would be better with the eastern bloc than the west
