It’s huge task for a lot of these cities. I don’t know why we don’t build in grids using master plan. Makes it so much easier for roads, sewage, and even aesthetics. Only reason I can think is we bunch everything so we make it easier to share electricity and reduce commute times

I think in any future development Somali cities will begin building outside the city and then connect to the ‘old city’. Hence places like this will turn into what ‘xamar jajab’ is today, largely abandoned and built around. It’s the only feasible way I can foresee at this time.

when selling plots of land need to enforce a building code. We need roads for access to fire trucks ambulances and trash removal this hoshposh of building is very tough to provide modern amenities
