Not necessarily. Here are the archetypes you described:

One is coddled and in a state of perpetual boyhood. A pampered ebony Peter Pan who never grew up and expects to live a soft boy life off the efforts of an excessively self-sacrificing ride or die Wendy.

The other is a chocolate perpetual Cinderella forced to assume the role of self-rescuer and become her own prince charming more often than not. As she cannot rely on her male counterpart. So she becomes overly productive and enterprising.
