AL UMARI's ACCOUNT OF AWFAT/ADAL's LANGUAGE

We have often seen scholars using the description of the calendar used by "al zayali'a" as a description of the language spoken only in the city of Zeila, However after reading al umaris book that's not what he actually says.

Al umari says the words Bil and karam are used for the calendar in "Al Zayali'a"'s language, never did he specifically claim it was in the language of the people of the CITY of zeila as many secondary sources claim.

Al umari being from Egypt, he tells us what he knows as Zayla'is, He talks about the islamic kingdoms of al habash (horn of africa) then says and those lands are known in Levant and Egypt (where he's from) as Bilad al zaylac.

We also know from the writings of John Ogilby the 16th century writer that the natives of the region called their kingdom Zeila

As we can see, Al umari is talking about awfat/adal's language rather than the city of zeila's language, we also know somalis having no non-somali substratum determines that no-somali speaking people ever lived in those lands (vast majority of the kingdom's lands were in the lowlands, specifically somali inhabited lands), so what do y'all think? @Garaad diinle @Three Moons @The alchemist
