This makes perfect sense and I get why it's necessary. Im sure even many of my grandparents did this But it's 2016 now and we don't live in Somalia, widows don't need protection and brothers don't die easily, most of them grow old with their wives and children.
The mindset has changed and some of us consider being interested in your brother's wife when he's dead even worse than when he's alive. No matter how attractive she its a big NOPE.

I understand it's not one of the listed haram prospects in that one aya, all of which listed in the Quran are basically "duhs", immediate family members no sane person would even entertain sleeping with in the first place.
