The port was famous for its exports of gold dust, myrrh, ivory, Abyssinian slaves & acacia gum. The writer notes that it had
"all the advantages of commerce over Aden" until Portuguese bombardment in 1517 brought traffic to Aden instead

Most likely were, Badda, an ancient city in Nugaal was & Awdal had power as far east as PL.

+ an old manuscript written by a Somali-Harari mentions an Awdal king recruiting soldiers from Xaafuun
