SL has too many obstacles and too little benefits to be recognized independent from what it seems like.

The Act Of The Union was reliable enough to have the Somali Republic be expected to continue Somalilands agreements with the UK after 1960. Then its reliable enough to hold that Somalia was infact legally one country and that Somaliland was completely merged. The union is only disregarded by SL as illegal in reality its widely accepted to have been fully united and that means it can only be taken out bilaterally.

The other issue is their very Pro-Taiwan stance invoking the hatred of a permanent member state who has veto power to decide if they get a seat in the UN was not the best long term idea.

Somaliland chances of becoming independent aren't going to increase JUST because of an invitation, Ethiopia will never risk fueling secessionist movements in their own country
