Of course tenants' "rights" will be much stronger in places like New York. I feel bad for small landlords. You would have to be insane to rent out properties in far left jurisdictions if you're not a large corporation. This happens and then renters wonder why rents are increasing and out of reach and why they need 800+ credit scores for a studio in a dump neighbourhood. This is why they calacal in the news and say ALAB and that landlords are "leeches". They deserve it.

The issue is squatting laws in the West which makes it very hard for landlords to evict. That man is clearly a professional squatter and has evaded rent payments with other properties for years.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy renters are being protected, but certain laws do need to be revised because a lot of landlords aren’t these greedy big corps but everyday people.

Not a lot of power over professional scammers like in the video. If you refused to pay rent it could take months for landlords to be able to evict you and they’d be out of pocket. It isn’t fair. Although I also see the other side. The law should protect both renter and owner.
