I can imagine a few different reasons. Maybe they do it to make a mockery of religious beliefs, afterlife and God. They could also want to live it up in this life and live a very hedonistic lifestyle which worship of Satan could represent for them. The finale reason I can think of is to garner attention from others. Too many people are starved for attention and crave notoriety.
