Why were Somalis so successful?

Somaliweyn encompasses not only the largest amount of ethnic territory in the Horn but in all of Africa. Why is this? What made Somalis expand so rapidly and successfully compared to other groups?

Somaliweyn encompasses not only the largest amount of ethnic territory in the Horn but in all of Africa. Why is this? What made Somalis expand so rapidly and successfully compared to other groups?

Pastoralist groups require large amounts of land for grazing, the groups that lived in the region at the time were Khoisan like hunter-gatherers, which we either absorbed or killed, camel domestication allowed us to go into more arid areas that the cattle herders couldn't go, plus goats can pretty much eat anything, camels too.
