i thought you were referring to diaspora somalis at first, yea psychiatry is definitely needed in somalia

Somalis do not believe in psychology to begin with. But i am sure there is some, but don't count on them being Muslims. They are atheists like @4head

Most Somalis don't consider mental ill health to be the same as physical ill-health. If they did, we'd probably have more psychologists around.

Every girl in the diaspora either chooses to study nursing, psychology, or social work.

Not all of them but those jobs are fairly good if you're empathetic and interested in people which I imagine the girls taking them would be.

I've met a few that hold psychology degree but they don't work in that field I don't know why I never enquired.
