Why Somaliland expelled the UN

Thanks for the upload it was a great read. I wasn't aware of these internal issues in that region. People like to portray it as something completely different. What are your thoughts on this issue?

It's ironic that the people there want the NGOs to directly pay the government due to corruption even though the government is openly stealing so I don't understand that contradiction.

I thought they were completely self sufficient and didn't get any aid money. :mjpls:
The article says at least half is covered by international support there's no self sufficiency because even when the UN agency was expelled it was allowed to return which tells us there was a need for them.

Parliamentary elections are happening soon I believe - which is long overdue

The issue is that if SL wants to be a nation it can't tolerate NGOs treating it otherwise.

We get aid ofc it's Africa we're speaking about :icon e smile:

NGO aid comes through the FGS redirecting it so Villa Somalia pretends like they're 'paying' us when they're just playing taxi man

Somaliland will rejoin Somalia only if it is to the benefit of Somalilanders. Due to the rise of the internet and the ease of travel within Somali regions i believe Somaliland will rejoin Somalia in the next 10 years.

This has already been witnessed by the UCID leader negotiating with the FGS for more "Dir" representation.

Somalia is heading slowly to a better path. We need to continue fighting politically not militarily. I believe with the oil money and the military advancements in the next 10 years Somalias budget will grow to 10 Billion dollars.

Corruption is killing Somalis, Somaliland could be so much more if it focused on AntiCorruption and economic growth. Instead Muse Bixi seems to be doubling down on siphoning funds.

Somalia is no different.

"Somaliland’s decision to suspend relations with the UN is a response to its frustration, but it is also a calculated move. President Bihi’s administration seems confident that the UN will continue its programmes. This might be based on the precedent in 2018 when Somaliland expelled a UN agency, reportedly because it refused to build two houses for ministers."

Every clan state operates in this manner. The leadership of these "states" cynically use qabil to keep the majority divided while they make off with the loot. This is why the ruling elite educate their children abroad, while the region has not completed any new major infrastructure projects (despite decades of "independence"). What a pitiful state of affairs.

So "landheere" but they can't even asphalt a f*cking road.

Somaliland isn't a clan state, it is an attempt at the development of a new state due to the aerial bombardment of their city by Somalia's previous government. It is also the only entity in Somalia who has been a state independent of Somalia.

The state fell into Qabyaalad but the basis for the state isn't Qabil. We should keep that in mind.
