He's completely right. Especially the part where he says people pull out their phones in the waiting room or bathroom or bus stop. Thinking and observing life around you is where innovation starts. But most people are busy checking their social media.

I had a pic on my old phone where I was on the train to Hamburg and I swear the whole carriage, man, woman and child (including me) between 15-60 were all on their phones. I wish I still had the picture because that pic was 21st century in a nutshell.

Suugo science is what you are spitting here just like Mr sinek .there is absolutely nothing wrong with the scenario you depicted . I would worry if this were a social gathering .but what is wrong with using your phone on a train full of strangers? .what a load of nonsense @ observing life around you is where innovation starts .using your phone is no different to reading a book or reading a newspaper .what on earth is there to observe on the same journey ones makes on a daily basis ?.i will use my phone and be innovative once a i get to work .
2017- end suugo science . Simon sinek is a suugo scientist.

Everyone is in consumption mode. It doesn't matter ehat they are doing they are consuming something in that state.

In order to become a producer you need to stop consuming and start observing. People don't sit and think anymore, they think from a screen.

@Bielsa ,

i have coined many legendary Somali internet phrases over the past two years .
War dadkani waa imtixaan
Streets gotta eat
Kneegrows (I no longer use this and instead use terms below *)
Fellows
Chaps
Suugo science (actually I burrowed this from jeffo or someone who I believe used the term dhuuso science on a gym thread .)

People were reading newspapers, books, magazines before the invention of the cell phone to kill some time. This isn't any different.

It's terrible now.

Try to leave your cellphone at home for 1 hour and step outside. You will only be thinking about your cellphone, instead of the thinking about yourself.

It is easy for babyboomers to criticise millenials from their huge mansions. They had the luck to be born in the most financial stable era with the biggest economic growth of all time. Ask your average western babyboomer how many internship he or she has had? The most of them got hired straight after highschool whereas many millenials are struggling to find a job with one or more degrees.

I find the older generation don't want to help develop you, and this is especially true for those with the same background as you as if you're in competition with them even they're 10-15 more qualified than you.

Exuses. Why do us millenials have so many excuses?

The markets have never been so flush with cash.
This is the greatest time in history to make money.

Even if babyboomers are living longer and staying at work, there's still many more opportunities now then before.

The idiots who can't find jobs don't want to go where the jobs are.

Can I ask you a question:
Do you still live in the same city your parents brought you to?

Older generation is now investing in millenials. There's things we can do they can't; and we have something they don't--TIME.

It's common now to see millenials being respected in executive positions. Generation X to me is the most annoying generation; they are threatened by Millienals.

What's the generation after the Millennials called? You can't have people from 1985 to 1999-2000 be classed under the same generation.

I admire your optimism but reality is different. I agree that the most money is made during unstable times. But not everyone can or will become millionaire, most people are content with a stable job. The criticism made in the video are trivial. So what if their parents told them they're special? Ironically their parents are the silver spoon fed babyboomers.

As for your question. I left my parental house when I was 20 and lived in Istanbul as well as other college cities on my own. I came back to my old city after graduation.
