While going through Somaliland and Puntland you are met with government based checkpoints consistently which tax couriers and also maintain safe haven on the roads.

Why does the FGS not control more land, or open up more checkpoints?

Poorly trained soldiers and no cohesion. Puntland’s soldiers are Bancroft trained. All of the FGS soldiers should also be trained by them , there’s no use cutting corners. FGS also hide under the arms embargo which is total bs

There's more terrorist presence, they hide in the rural areas, also more clam diversity. PL has to deal mainly with MJs, Somaliland has to deal mainly with Isaaq and Dhulbahante and we all know they had problems with DH until recently.
FGS on the other hand has to deal with Hawiye,MX, Rahanweyn, Bantus and many others. It's easier to control a homogeneous Territory
