Some of the minorities have a different view on these things.. She’s benadiri (cadcad). The mobility and participation in public life of their women was limited pre-war and still is (from what I’ve heard). There’s a famous benadiri makeup artist called Maryan Ahmedey that discusses this.
There absolutely is. Ethnic somalis do not have this culture.There isn't a unified centralized culture. The Somali experience varies from person to person (depending on their background, region, and personal circumstances) and that is pretty amazing. But that doesn't invalidate her experiences, like with any patriarchal society there is bound to be widespread misogyny.
