Why are afrocentrists so obsessed with somalis? They always tell us that we aren't african or black. And they have this weird fixation with egypt.

It varies. Some like Somalis and other Horners and will claim we are "the true Ancient Egyptians". The ones who dislike us also partly seem to feel that way due to Somali trolls being racist online. Waa just generally confused people, walaal. A sad product of cadaan brainwashing and racism. They were led to believe their Western and Central African ancestors were simply loincloth wearing savages of the highest order (far from it!) and the only African cultures they grew up seeing remotely enshrined in the west, especially America, were those of the Nile Valley like Egypt and Nubia so they latched onto them to a neurotic degree for a sense of self-worth, heritage and culture.

When people don't have anything going for them in history, they like to claim others' accomplishments.
Take for example, Europeans. They like to claim Roman, Greek, and Egyptian civilizations. They also make sure they negate the achievements of other civilizations.
Afrocentrists also have similar problem. Instead of emphasizing other civilizations in Africa, they like to claim others' work, especially Egyptians'.
You can also see the Somalis doing the same thing. We're Caucazoid and Egyptian kangs used to be a big theme from 'Malis in the diaspora.
They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's sort of tricky trying to claim African civilizations when they're the ones who sold you into servitude in the first place. Poor fuckers
Somalis that claims ancient Egypt makes more sense to me than an African American who claims ancient Egypt (that was raised in Detroit.)
