Why do somalis identify themselves based on a lingustic group?

Serious question. I notice you guys identify as cushitic and tend to shun people whose language is not with in that group.

For example you guys will identify a Bajan (who as far as i know, are not in somalia or close to it's borders) as a close relative over a Somali bantu, because they speak a cushitic language. why?

Please don't take this as a confrontation or a judgement i just want to know why somali identify as cushitic so much.
