Why do North Italians look down on Southern Italians

I also suspect a racial dynamic, Sicily was conquered by the Moors, so they have Arab, Berber and Black African admixture. Some of those Northern Italians look German and some of those Sicilians have kinky hair.

Nope, Southern Italians always looked like that.

It is Northern Italy that has changed racially and become more Germanic.

Italy is one of the best analyzed countries in Europe when it comes to their ancient ancestry record. Here is a good study on it.

Sardinians and Southern Italians are the closest to the Ancient Romans (figure A, B, and C). Look at figure A to see what those unlabeled gray dots mean.

To be more accurate, the general region around Rome originally started out as pretty much Sardinian-like (mostly Anatolian Neolithic Farmer in ancestry). Then the Indo-Europeans began encroaching and brought language groups like Italic. By the early Iron-Age the Latini tribes people present would have looked rather similar to modern North Italians on a basal level but then a huge influx of Greeks and Middle-Easterners (Jews, Phoenicians et al.) seems to have begun by the Republican period and by the middle to late Republican period Rome seems to have become pretty East-Med shifted and looking like Southern Italians all the way into the Imperial period but then the collapse of the western Roman empire occurred and Germanic and Celtic tribes encroached and gave us modern Central Italians who are roughly intermediate between north and south, though somewhat south shifted if memory serves me right. Northerners got quite shifted northwards and southerners generally maintained the early East-Med shift, especially the more south you go.

No. This is basically what Somalis are as far as we can so far tell:

Tl;dr: Neolithic Sudanese + Neolithic North-African mixes who migrated into the Horn then got some South-Arabian around 2,500-3,000 years ago and also mixed a bit with native Horn Hunter-Gatherers when they got to the Horn. That's almost all Cushitic-Ethiosemitic Horners in a nutshell. It's mainly just the percentages of each ancestry component that differ like Tigrays obviously having way more (20-30%) of the South-Arabian than Somalis (1-10%).

The gist I got from the paper's samples on ancient Romans and the paper itself is this:
  • The pre-Latin people Copper-Age people were basically like Sardinians (heavily Anatolian Neolithic with notable WHG)
  • Early Latini tribes people who encroached on the prior people were heavily Anatolian Neolithic with a lot of steppe and would have clustered around where North-Italians do. Intermediates between the Middle-East and North-Central Europe but more biased toward North-Central Europe (60-40 or 70-30). I ran the samples myself though and their ME shift seems entirely Anatolian Farmer. They do not have Greek/Levantine (East-Med) admixture. However, there are two samples from their time who are heavily East-Med admixed like later Imperial samples so the East-Med admixture was starting to show up even back then around Rome.
  • We only have two "Republican" era samples in truth and they are both totally different despite being from the same site and time period. One looks heavily East-Med admixed like later Imperial era samples and one looks pretty much like the old Latini tribes people.
  • Imperial era Romans seem uniformly heavily East-Med admixed with lots of ancestry from Greece and the Levant and lots of J and E lineages too. What I described with the Latini tribes people's shift flips and it's more like a 60-40 or above shift toward the Middle-East now.
This guy summarizes it rather well:

Basically Romans started out like Sardinians then North Italian-like, then by late Republican Era and early Imperial Era Magna Graecians and then the Eastern provinces drastically changed the demographics.

And I have those samples here with all the other ancient Italian samples:

What is the reason behind it ?
I actually watched a small doc about it. Bassicly Northern italians think southern italians are bunch of low iq violent maffiosi since the italian maffia comes from sicily. And southern italians think that northern italians are bunch of uppity cucks. Since the north is way richer then the south.

Personally i like the south since they invented pizza and the maffia :mjpls: :mjdontkno: .

In my experience Northern Italians were bigoted to me but Southern Italians weren't. Italian Americans are swarthy and they weren't considered white in the 1880s in the US
Which italian region are Italian Americans from ?

that explains the high frequency of E and J in central and southern Italians .

In my experience,
both Nothern and Southern Italians were great people.
I had some exchange students from Italy in my uni; they were from Nothern Regions, open-minded and fun to be around (and smart!).
Also, I had a History-Economy teacher from southern Italy, he was one of the most sympathic and heart-warming man that I have ever had as a tutor.
And of course, one of my bestfriends, of Albanian-Italian origins, who is the most genuine person in my life, a brillant mind!

Nothing negative about Italians that comes to my mind.
I heard they suffered a lot during the first waves of Corona and Macron's attitude hurt them:
I'm sorry on behalf of all French citizens. We love Italy!

What is the reason behind it ?
Cuz northern Italians are the richest and most industrious regions in Italy while the south is mainly agriculture and poor full of gangs like mafias and Northern Italians taxes subsidies their economy which the northners aren't happy about it when southerners don't contribute that much to the economy and their taxes going to them
