LOOOOOL! Ever a rowdy people.

Back when I was a boy in Bosaso my dad had a tiny personal army on our land. As much as 62 armed guards at one point though they were dressed pretty rinky-dink and just armed with Kalashnikovs. When I was there my mother had gotten him to reduce the size of the garrison to maybe 30 or so men at best. We owned this modified pick-up that had some sort of rocket launcher cannon thing attached to it and every week, once a week, a group of the guards would drive it out onto an empty field near our estate and fire it into the sky. It would be ABSURDLY loud everytime and it felt like it would shake all of Bosaso. To this day I have no clue on earth why they did this other than to just have fun and blow off some steam or why my dad just let them waste ammo like that.

Bisinka what did your dad need with 62 armed guards. The only person I can think of to have guards that numerous, is a clan elder or politician?!

He was a very prominent businessman at the time and though he was no Ugaas he was at times referred to jokingly as "The Big Man of DIshiishe", a step below the Ugaas himself and, well, Boosaaso and Bari in general back then was a very tense place.

I don't know why people from Somalia celebrate when their country wasn't even independent during 26 June 1960, this is Somalilands first Independence Day. Sure, celebrate all you want but acting like it's Somalias Independence day is weird.

Are you alright mate? :gucciwhat:

Whether you like it or not, Somalia composes the entire former British protectorate of Somaliland. It's the day shisheeyes departed from waqooyi and the blue flag was hoisted on Somali soil, thus independence day along with 1st July, which also serves as the date of unification; the republic day.

Despite SL declaring independence, the flag is still flying high up in parts of the territory you consider to be a separate entity called 'JSL', that the locals still view as Somalia. It's a day worthy of being recognized and celebrated. As long as SL is legally part of Somalia and there're Somalis in waqooyi who believe in remaining within the union, it won't end anytime soon. Better get used to it sxb :manny:
