Why aren't Somalis holding their local governments accountable?

Majority of local governments collect millions in taxes from their municipalities yet you rarely see any development other than the occasional collaboration with foreign organizations.

Do you think it's right to blame them for their ineptness or am I being unjustifiable? Cuz I am not sure if local governments hold the ability to bring change and development to their municipalities.

This is not really all that surprising for unstable nations. There is generally a high chance for political corruption.

No lies, I wonder how these bums get hired? Is it through nepotism? I wish people would protest and refuse to pay taxes to their inept local government.

It's probably nepotism. The easiest way to be corrupt is to have a cabal to be corrupt with.

I also don't think the people will protest. In their perspective, if there's not enough legal representation to effectively change anything, then that's time they can spend making their own lives easier.

As Somalia becomes more developed, unless it ends up being a authoritarian state, corruption will probably lessen. I don't know when this will be, but God willing, soon.

yes definitely nepotism and having the correct ties. I know someone who might become part of the government in Somalia just based on their family ties.
